Blurb;
Twenty-five years ago, I escaped. One of us didn’t.
We were best friends — Penelope, Emily and me — growing up in the picture-perfect town of Tranquility Ridge. Pine-lined streets, quaint diners, creaky porch swings. The kind of place nothing bad is supposed to happen.
But the night before my seventeenth birthday, everything changed.
Emily invited us to a party.
That’s when we were taken.
I woke up shackled to a rusted metal bed. My wrists bled. My ankles bruised. Music blared around the clock — too loud, too cruel. I never saw who did it. I was trained not to look.
I escaped.
Penelope didn’t.
And Emily? She’s been lying ever since.
Now, twenty-five years later, a stranger appears with a message, scrawled in Emily’s handwriting — a message I never expected to read:
Penelope’s alive — find her!
My Review
Wow! I absolutely ☆LOVED☆ reading this book!👌
From the very beginning it drew me in, & had me HOOKED; throughout. I flew through this book in just 2 days, as it kept me wanting, & 'needing', to read more.
It was very well written, an easy read style, & had a good pace; which it kept up throughout, & was literally GRIPPING, - right through to the very end!
The characters were believable, & there was some back & forth between time, & character, throughout the whole book, but this wasnt off-putting, nor did it take away from the main plot of the book, as it was switching from the present day, to the girls back 'then', - but each time it switched it was clearly headed, so you knew 'who' (which character) it was, & it actually told the story from back then, & in the present day, & as this was continuous throughout, what I liked about it was, that though was 1 plot, BOTH built up over the course of the book, & towards the end of the book, BOTH came together as a whole, & this REALLY worked! 👌👌👌
I really enjoyed this author's writing style, & this book had a great, intriguing, plot, which kept me reading through to the very end.
Out of a rating of 1-10, where 10 is the highest, I would give this book a rating of 🌟10!🌟.
I think this is the first book I've actually given a rating of 10!, - but this book is very deserving of that rating, & I can't recommend this book highly enough.
I normally purchase & read books via my kindle, & only ever buy the physical book if it's REALLY good; which this book blew me away, & which I will DEFFO be buying!
I've also never heard of, nor read any other books written by this author before, but I felt compelled to look them up, & there is another written by this author called 'The Girl Noone Loved', - which too, looks like a very good read, & which will now be my next read, & im excited to start reading; already! = Please check back soon for my next book review of this! 😉
