 ‼️ The House Maid Is Watching;

My Review! ‼️

Blurb;

"You must be our new neighbors!" Mrs. Lowell gushes and waves across the picket fence. I clutch my daughter's hand and smile back: but the second Mrs. Lowell sees my husband a strange expression crosses her face. In that moment I make a promise. We finally have a family home. My past is far, far behind us. And I'll do anything to keep it that way…

I used to clean other people's houses―now, I can't believe this home is actually mine. The charming kitchen, the quiet cul-de-sac, the huge yard where my kids can play. My husband and I saved for years to give our children the life they deserve.

Even still, I'm wary of our new neighbor Mrs. Lowell. When she invites us over for dinner it's our chance to make friends. Her maid opens the door wearing a white apron, her hair in a tight bun. I know exactly what it's like to be in her shoes. But her cold stare gives me chills…

The Lowells' maid isn't the only strange thing on our street. I'm sure I see a shadowy figure watching us. My husband leaves the house late at night. And when I meet a woman who lives across the way, her words chill me to the bone: Be careful of your neighbors.

Did I make a terrible mistake moving my family here?

I thought I'd left my darkest secrets behind. But could this quiet suburban street be the most dangerous place of all?

My Review;

So after reading both the first & the second books in this series; 'The House Maid', & 'The House Maid's Secret', & following them straight on with reading this; 'The House Maid Is Watching', which is the third in the series, I have to say that although it was still an enjoyable read, - personally, - I didn't feel it was anywhere near as good as either the first or second.

I felt that this book focused far too much on the domesticity of main characters' lives, Millie & Enzo, which whilst were incorporated 'into' the first & second book, this title was practically 'based' on it, throughout, & instead felt like the actual story (& only exciting bit of the story ((which only starts getting there way over half way through)) ) was 'incorperated into' their domestic/home life, = so the complete other way around. I felt that it was quite a big jump on in time, too, from the previous two books, in the context of 'years', for the main characters, - although I'm glad I read it, to see how & where they both ended up!

As for the actual book itself, it was written again in that easy-to-read style, which I love, & it deffo draws you in. Although, as i've said previously, there doesn't seem to be much excitement happening until way over half way through, - so it's deffo a little more drawn out.

I still flew through this book in just one day, - so it DID keep me reading through to the end.

Based on a rating of 1-10, where 10 is the highest, I would give this book a rating of 6 out of 10.

I'd say that this is deffo a book worth reading 'if' you've read the previous two books in this series, however, I only purchased the physical paperbacks of the first & second books, which I added to what I call my 'OUTSTANDING' collection, = I read the books on my Kindle, then after, only if the book is outstanding, will I purchase the physical copy.

Sadly, I'm glad I read this book, but it won't complete the physical paperback set, as this isn't a book that I would buy, - nor would recommend as a 'stand-alone' book; unless you've read the previous two.
