My Review‼️πŸ“’πŸƒ‍♀️πŸƒ‍

Written by Jackie Kabler,

Blurb;

Every step might be your last…

On a bright spring Saturday, hundreds gather in a park as usual for their weekly community 5k run.

An hour later, one of the runners is dead.

The next week a runner training for a 10k event dies. And then another, a half marathon runner…

The police are baffled. The pattern is the same, the deaths can’t be coincidental. Is there a murderer picking off victims one race at a time?

Ten million adults are regular or occasional runners.

Ten million potential victims.

With the next event just announced, as you reach the start line you might just have to run for your life…

My Review;

Wow! - What a head-spinner!!!! -
I chose to read this book as I have previously read all of Jackie Kablers' books to date (please check out my previous reviews!), & they have ALL been SUCH a great, very compelling read, from start to finish, so I was naturally very keen to read this! πŸ‘ŒπŸ€ž
= Although I found this book easy to get into from the very beginning (Jackie, I love your writing style!), I must admit, that until I was at almost 65% of the way through reading, I was starting to become doubtful. I felt this because though I had kept up with the plot-line, & had stayed invested in reading this, I found that the initial involvement of 'many' more characters within this book, - & how it went from being victim 1, to 'Martha', & then 'Nico', - which I 'assumed'(!!!) to be 'the husband' of Martha (very clever Jackie!), to then one police force, to then victim 2, to then also involve snippets from an inmate, who appeared to have suspicious of what the connection was, - yet I didn't have a clue as to how 'she' was even connected, - to actually end up involving 5 victims, 4 police forces, 'Martha', 'Nico', & the inmate, PLUS, including short snippets from Social Media posts, - in contrast to her other books, I felt this had a LOT going on, a lot of people to keep up with, & a LOT to keep up with in general with this read, - HOWEVER, - !!!! - I am SOOOOOO glad I persevered & stuck with reading this, as it did start to pick up pace through the last quarter of the book, & then kept pace very well; increasing it's pace through to the end, - & my suspicions that 'I' had, about who the final victim was going to be, & 'who' the killer was, - & my suspicions about how it was all going to go wrong & the victim be someone unintended (trying not to give any spoilers here!), - were COMPLETELY B-L-O-W-N OUT OF THE WATER!!!! - This book had a big twist that I did NOT see coming, & as it all picked up pace, & came together, & played out, - it was honestly a real HEAD-SPINNER of jaw-dropping twists, & outcomes that all came together REALLY well at the end, & made ALL of what came before, - including 'how' it was specifically written, = VERY cleverly! πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ
Based on a rating of 1 - 10, I would have to give this book a rating of 8.5! - I don't normally give 'half-point' ratings, but this has to be an exception!!! = Overall, I did very much enjoy this book, & the level of readers satisfaction once it's ended is IMMENSE, so I WOULD 'DEFFO' recommend this book, - however, in comparison to Jackie's other books to date, obviously this book included a far lot more goings-on, so it is a book that you've got to stick with, & it becomes far more enjoyable as it goes on, & as the pace (& your own suspicions & theories!) pick up.
Deffo a highly recommended read, & very, very cleverly written, πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ.
